The Trade Union
New
Labour - New Britain?
Immigrants
in the British political system: Integration of immigrants not only means to
adapt the culture of the country but also to take part in the political life. This paper
will show how immigrants take part in the British political system, how they take
decisions within the different parties and what their aims are.in English
Gender Language:
Do men and
women speak differently? And if so -why? The gender differences appear because of the fact
that boys and girls are differently socialised. Women communicate for intimacy and to
build community, while men use language for information and contest. Within a conversation
they often interrupt or overlap their interlocutors in order to gain the discussion floor.
Some people mostly women feel disturbed, stop talking and refuse to go on,
others simply ignore the interruption or even feel supported and confirmed. - If you want

English @nd the Internet -
the challenge to standard English in communication systems: As
every Internet user will have already noticed online dialogues that occur in
emails, chats or news boards are mostly written in English and sometimes in
pidgin mix-forms. This is valid for most of the countries. The WWW as such,
including exchange services like for instants mail or chat, favours the English
language as international lingua franca, whereas several changes from the
standard are to be seen. This paper is to examine
the language change caused by Internet communication and the centre of interest
will be particularities in spelling and pronunciation, grammatical phenomena and
new word formation. in English
The long way home - Scotland on its way
back to an own parliament: The
construction of the new parliamentary building commenced in the summer of 1999
and it is due to be occupied in 2003. Considering the fact that Scotland has
only five million inhabitants, setting up a resplendent edifice of more than 115
million Pound may confuse not only the opponents of this new Parliament. But
obviously the Scots did not want to spare neither trouble nor expense for their
recently elected institution in order to begin a new political era in an
appropriate manner. The Parliament should therefore be seen as a symbol for this
new beginning age. This paper tries to discuss the question whether the
Parliament works on its own, under Westminster's wing or on the preparation to
the total break-off from Britain. in English
